Evening workout with Tyler. The heat isn’t too bad today. We start off with a run and some HSPU, bear crawls, and squats as a warm up. Oh and a few good mornings. Onto the skill portion..

I’m so bad at deadlift. I should be able to do a lot more than I can. I just get scared. And I still haven’t figured it out. I know, it seems like an incredibly simple lift but for some reason, I just can’t get it. I can’t push myself, either. It’s frustrating. I tried to pair up (because the men still all the damn weights) but no woman my size lifted as little as I did. Oh sure, I could have worked with the 95lb chick who has a PR about 45lbs less than mine but otherwise, it was slim pickins.
I start off and I’m feeling good. Brooke is working out behind me and she suggests I widen my stance a bit. I’ll take any advice I get. I try it out and while I don’t notice much of a difference, I do end up PRing today so it probably was helpful. She also asked me why the hell I only had a PR of 195…wish I knew. She thinks once I break 200 it will all be easy from there..hmm ok.
Sam shows up and is crying. Had to put her dog down a few hours ago 😦 Time to lift heavy shit and not think for a while. She jumps in with me. Not surprisingly, her PR is 235 so she starts lifting with Brooke after warming up on my bar. I get to my 100% and struggle. She tells me to turn around and face her and we will lift at the same time. Huh…wonder if it will work. Yes it does!! I pull my previous PR (195lb). Tyler yells that we have one more lift. I ask Sam if she will do it with me again. Yep. I put on 205 and she puts on 245. We stand up together. Woooooooo! I broke the 200lb mark and we both got a 10lb PR. However, I feel my back is already a bit tired/sore. Probably will regret this tomorrow. Still have a lot of work to do on my form. Onto the workout.

I loved this workout. My hand ripped during my second to last set of pullups so I had to re-tape it but otherwise, I powered through. 95lbs got heavy pretty quickly. Turns out I was kind of tired from deadlifts. Also, I haven’t been in the gym for a little over a week so that may have been a part of it. But I am working out next to Brooke and beating her! This makes me happy. After the hand rip, she makes up some time but I manage to eek out two more reps than she does.
I paced myself with cleans after the first set. I made myself do 2 touch and go for the entire set of ten. That really helped keep me with it. My pullups were great (minus the rip).
The thing about these short AMRAPs is one minute I’m looking up thining “Oh my god I’m so tired and I still have 8 minutes!?!?” and the next time I look at the clock and it’s 11:45 and I have to quickly bang out 10 pullups! I kind of love that. Good day back.
